sustainable digital publishing marketplace that connects african authors to a global audience.

Ebook Publishing in Africa

Our author onboarding web app is loading as our developers work tirelessly for the prelaunch of a groundbreaking platform. We’re revolutionizing the publishing industry by creating a marketplace tailored for African authors, writers, and publishers.

Foreign platforms like Amazon KDP have long hindered our growth. While many of us were excited to publish through Amazon and similar platforms, how many actually make money? Unfortunately, most of us don’t because these platforms aren’t designed to meet the needs of African authors.

For instance, Amazon KDP no longer supports onboarding African authors without foreign bank accounts. This means royalties remain trapped, as they won’t process payments into our local banks. Even when sales happen, African authors end up with little to nothing as income, with over 70-80% of royalties eaten up by taxes and fees.

Challenges of African-Based Authors

As an Amazon author, have you experienced the following challenges as an African-based Author?
1. Inability to receive direct payments into your local account?
2. Frustrations with PayPal?
3. Restrictive payment thresholds with Payoneer?
4. Amazon’s 60% deductions (30% U.S. tax + Amazon commissions)?
5. Unjust account shutdowns by Amazon KDP without reason?
6. Minimal earnings despite your marketing efforts?

As a former Amazon author, I faced these challenges. Interviews with other African authors revealed similar struggles. This is why I believe African problems require African solutions.

However, local ebook publishing platforms in Africa are also riddled with issues such as bad pricing policies, slow innovation, and poor visibility. Most African platforms only operate in English, limiting access to global audiences in countries like China, France, India, and Germany, among others. Furthermore, the lack of a cohesive digital strategy prevents our works from reaching the global markets that would value them.

When an African author starts their journey, they dream of sharing impactful stories and achieving financial independence. Sadly, existing systems often shatter these dreams. But ITANmi is a sustainable digital publishing and author marketplace that’s rewriting the script.

We’ve learned from past failures, and we’re building a platform where truly gifted and hardworking authors can achieve the recognition and financial rewards they deserve.

Revolutionizing African Publishing

These frustrations inspired the creation of  ITANmi – an indigenous marketplace designed to connect African authors with global audiences eager to discover fresh, authentic voices.

We can’t reveal all our plans just yet, but stay tuned for more. Follow this space for launch updates and be part of the movement!
